Adobe Express

Adobe Express for Education is available to all learners and practitioners in maintained schools. It supports the development of creative digital competence skills across the Curriculum for Wales. With its intuitive tools, learners and practitioners can create:

• high quality graphics

• presentations

• webpages

• videos

• podcasts

These can help to bring learning to life across the curriculum.

There are 3 ways to access Adobe Express:

1. Log into the Hwb website and click the Adobe Express app on the Hwb dashboard.

2. Visit express.adobe.com and log in with your Hwb account.

3. Use the Adobe Express app, if using an iPad.

Learners can:

• creatively present their ideas in posters, presentations and infographics

• create digital portfolios to showcase work

• animate characters with audio

• combine video clips, photos and music into video projects

• create podcasts

• explore guided activities with step-by-step instructions for extra support

Practitioners can:

• access templates and ready-made resources to support learning and teaching

• design resources for classroom displays, posters, presentations or visual overviews

• create parent or staff newsletters as webpages or PDFs

• create certificates to celebrate achievements

• record voice clips over images and videos to create explainer videos

• use editing tools to remove backgrounds from images and videos, convert files to and from PDF and resize images

Practitioners and learners can develop their digital skills by taking part in:

• Adobe Express live lessons

• Adobe Creative Educator training sessions

Further support for practitioners is available through:

• Hwb and Adobe on-demand webinars

• 45 Adobe Express lessons for the Welsh Classroom eBook. This includes activity ideas, video tutorials and learner handouts that are aligned to Curriculum for Wales.

Adobe Express in Hwb includes Adobe Firefly generative AI features. These are designed specifically for classroom use. Practitioners can get support and tips from Adobe’s guide to text to image.

Features include:

• text to image: generate unique images from a text description

• text effects: apply creative textures and styles to text

• generative fill: insert, remove or replace objects in an image using simple text prompts

Adobe Express should be used in accordance with wider school policies, such as:

• digital literacy

• online safety

• acceptable use

• safeguarding

• data protection

Adobe Express includes:

• safe search filtering for images and videos

• guardrails for generative AI prompts and outputs to help ensure content remains appropriate for learners

However, generative AI may still produce inaccurate, unsuitable or biased results. Any inappropriate content should be reported to Adobe using the thumbs-down button with details.

Adobe stock images and music are royalty-free for education use.

Work can be shared via:

• a link

• Microsoft Teams

• Google Classroom

Practitioners should ensure learners understand who they are sharing their work with (for example, 'anyone with the link' versus specific people).

Schools should consider if:

• a new Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is needed

• if their current DPIA should be updated

Adobe Express can integrate with tools such as Microsoft Teams and Google Classroom. Schools should ensure they understand how learner data is handled in these integrations.

Adobe does not use learner data for targeted advertising or marketing. Data is not sold to third parties.

Adobe’s Data Processing Agreement complies with GDPR requirements for privacy and security. Information about Adobe’s data privacy policies for younger learners and schools can be found on Adobe’s privacy centre.

There are no usage limits on Adobe Express. You may notice the Generative AI credits go down, but this is a soft limit in the education version.
